Who are the real terrorists, the arsonists or the Herald?

street-of-dreams-fire.jpgThe Everett Herald is totally out of touch…

The following is from Bob Clark:

This morning my wife and I walked the ½ mile round trip down to Old Owen Road to get this morning’s Herald and were stunned to see this on the front page:http://heraldnet.com/article/20080313/NEWS01/989865410&news01ad=1#Ecoterror.attack.brings.rural.housing.issue.to.the.forefront

This irresponsible and morally objectionable story by Jeff Switzer offers indirect JUSTIFICATION for the criminals who engaged in the TERRORISM at Echo Lake.

Then it uses the event to underscore the very objectives of the terrorists involved.  The piece reads: “The arsons raise the profile of the debate,……”

Both John Postema, past President of the Snohomish County Farm Bureau and I  have recently (and independently) objected to the reporting being done at the Herald complaining about its VERY RELEVANCE to the majority of us who live in this county.

This insidious, reprehensible and irresponsible story on the paper’s front page outlines the heart of the problem:  The Everett Herald is totally out of touch with the real issues in Snohomish County and in the ideological clutches of the likes of radical Paul Brainerd’s Futurewise, who many of us blame for fanning the emotions of extremists in the county with letters to the editor and even stories written by the Herald which were bogus on their face.  I point to one of the worst of the bunch being the story about the Street of Dreams septic tanks destroying the aquifer at Echo Lake, that any hydrologist would point out as impossible.

This should serve as a warning to all of us to be particularly careful about anything you say to any of these crackpot reporters at the Herald and that includes Jerry Cornfield.

  1. I have a hard time believing this wasn’t simply an insurance scam, it rings an ominous parallel to 9-11 in my mind…..
