EXPLANATION AND INTERPRETATION OF THE PICTURE AND QUOTE:

Pictured is “Narsil” the legendary sword of Elendil, from J.R.R. Tolkien’s trilogy, The Lord of the Ring.

Elendil was the last great leader of the Faithful (the Dunedain) who had founded  the Western Kingdoms of Justice and prosperity on Middle Earth. It was shattered in battle as Elendil led a coalition of freedom fighters in  the battle of the Last Alliance against the evil empire of Sauron. In that battle, at the end of his reign, Elendil fell on, and broke his sword, and it’s burning light was lost. But Elendil’s successor, Isildur, immediately used its broken shards to sever the power of Sauron, and thus physically thwarted  world conquest by the evil forces of Mordor.

But Isildur did not re-forge the burning light, instead, attempting to use the power of the Ring now left behind, unchallenged by Sauron and that was his undoing. The Alliance was broken up and the Western Kingdoms fell into decay and corruption. The shards of Narsil became an heirloom of the House of Isildur.

The verses inscribed over the picture are ancient prophesies of Middle Earth, fortelling the awakening of Elendil’s vision in the heart of the faithful, the re-forging of the sword and the return of just government under the hand of Elendil’s rightful heir.

For those of you who do not immediately see an erie parallel with recent history, let me offer the following paraphrase:

Conservative Principle was  the legendary sword of Ronald Reagan. Reagan was the last great leader of the Faithful (the True Americans) who had founded  the United States on Earth, with it’s Justice and prosperity. The sword was shattered in battle as Reagan led a coalition of freedom fighters in  the last battle of the Reagan Coalition against the evil empire of The Soviet Union. In that battle, at the end of his reign, Ronald Reagan fell on, and broke his sword, and with his death, conservative principles were shattered. But during the first year of Reagan’s successor, George H. W. Bush, those broken shards severed the power of The Soviet Union, and thus physically thwarted  world conquest by the evil forces of Atheist Totalitarianism. But George H. W. Bush did not re-forge conservative principle, instead, attempting to use the Soviet’s old power Ring, redistribution and World Dominion as the sole remaining Super Power, and it was his undoing and that of his heirs. The Coalition gradually broke up and the United States of America fell into decay and corruption. The shards of conservative principle became an heirloom of the Republican Party. In The Lord of the Rings trilogy, the prophesy is fulfilled in the “War of the Ring” chronicled in its final volume, The Return of the King. In real life, of course, the sword and the Alliance remain shattered, the prophesy still awaiting fulfillment.
